Tennis elbow aka lateral epicondylitis aka archer’s
elbow aka shooter’s elbow is an overuse injury occurring at the common extensor tendon that originates from the lateral
epicondyle. Tennis elbow aka lateral epicondylitis aka archer’s elbow aka shooter’s elbow is a condition where
the outer part of the elbow becomes sore and tender.
Tennis elbow aka lateral epicondylitis aka archer’s
elbow aka shooter’s elbow which affects men more than women. It most often affects people between the ages of 30 and
50 although people of any age can be affected. As many as 50% of tennis players will suffer from tennis elbow during their
playing career.
Tennis elbow aka lateral epicondylitis aka archer’s elbow aka shooter’s elbow is an overuse
injury occurring at the common extensor tendon that originates from the lateral epicondyle. Symptoms of tennis elbow aka lateral
epicondylitis aka archer’s elbow aka shooter’s elbow include;
1. Acute pain that a person might feel occurs as one fully extends the arm.
2.
Pain is worse when shaking hands.
3.
Pain is worse when squeezing objects.
4.
Pain is worse when twisting an object with wrist such as when opening
a jar.
PREVENTION & TREATMENT:
1. Rest
and avoid any activity that causes pain to the sore elbow.
2. Apply ice to the affected area.
3.
A counter force brace below the injured elbow.
